FAQs

Is an RS485 connector included in the gridBox v5.1 package?

No, it is not included in the standard scope of delivery. But for larger production batches, it can be ordered separately.

Is the USB workaround for RS485 connections still supported for the gridBox 5.1?

For local gateway versions that do not have a RS-485 port, the USB port can be used to enable RS-485 connections with an USB to RS-485 adapter. The local gateway 5.1 has an in-built RS-485 port and the USB ports are supported to establish RS-485 connections.

Is it possible to use the serial number to determine whether the gridBox is a v5.1 or v5.0?

Yes, here is an example of a gridBox's serial number: H123-500-XXX-YYY-ZZZ-P-X where 500 indicates that it is a 5.0 and H123-510-XXX-YYY-ZZZ-P-X where 510 indicates that it is a 5.1 version of the local gateway.
